The Mission of Covenant Gardens
We want to produce the best, highest-quality, regeneratively grown food for our local community, all at the best possible price.
Rooted in the Valley
Covenant Gardens is directed by Tim and Amy Martin and their family. They’ve lived in the Jefferson River Valley for over twenty years and are active in the Whitehall community. In 2009, they moved to one of the old Amish farms in the Waterloo area. It’s been the perfect place for them and their nine children to experience life on a local farm.
Why we farm
Our goal is simple. We want to produce the best, highest-quality, regeneratively grown food for our local community at the best possible price.
In an era when corporate agriculture and government bureaucracy threaten to displace small farms, the best response is local action. That means supporting local farmers, educating our neighbors about the value of regenerative agriculture, and working together to protect small farms.
A Better Way to Grow
Centralized control over America’s food system has come at a high cost, even while temporarily lowering grocery store prices. Mass-produced food products are increasingly filled with chemical additives and known toxins. The rise of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in the food supply has only added to those risks.
It’s no surprise that general health is in decline.
The solution begins with local food raised through regenerative agricultural methods. Covenant Gardens doesn’t use synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, or other harmful chemicals. Our focus is on soil health, biodiversity, and sustainability. While corporate agriculture is built around profit and volume, we focus on quality and wholeness. After all, our family eats from the same harvest as our customers.
Covenant Gardens gives our local community a small but significant step toward food independence and healthy living. We invite anyone interested to become Farm Friends by helping on the farm and sharing in the harvest. This kind of cooperation builds strong local relationships and lasting trust. Local solutions solve local problems. The more we work together, the more success we’ll have.
We are a ministry of friendship, meant to support the rich, wholesome, good life in every sense. It’s about knowing your food is clean, your neighbors are close, and your land is cared for. Support freedom. Support your local farmers. Support Covenant Gardens.
